Stefan plays a central role in ensuring the Trust not only meets but exceeds its regulatory responsibilities, while delivering high-quality support to its beneficiaries and sponsored organisations.

Working closely with the Trust’s Members, Trustees and Committees, Stefan helps shape and monitor strategy, strengthen decision-making, and uphold the highest standards of ethical practice. He provides the Board and its Committees with robust, up-to-date data and analysis on organisational performance, as well as developments across the education and charity sectors. This supports governance that is rigorous, transparent, ethical, and aligned with the Charity Governance Code and the Nolan Principles.

Before joining Ormiston Trust, Stefan spent ten years in the Civil Service, working at the Department for Education and the Training and Development Agency for Schools. His responsibilities included oversight of the Standards for Qualified Teacher Status, the Requirements for Initial Teacher Training (ITT), arts and cultural education within ITT, and the expansion of the national Teach First programme.

He later founded an education consultancy, which over twelve years supported clients across the UK, USA, Norway, Australia, and India. Through this work, Stefan advised government departments, universities, nationally recognised charities and multi-academy trusts on governance, project management, and evaluation, and provided C-suite interim leadership.
