Lin brings a career spanning education, social care, youth justice and public-sector leadership. She began as a teacher and social worker before training as an educational psychologist, including five years as Principal Educational Psychologist at Coventry City Council.

She later held senior roles across government and public bodies, including the Ministry of Justice, General Social Care Council, Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency and Teaching Agency, before serving as Chief Executive of the Youth Justice Board. Lin has also chaired major charities supporting children, families and women affected by the criminal justice system, including Home-Start UK, Make-A-Wish UK and Working Chance.

At Ormiston Trust, that combination of frontline professional grounding, regulatory experience and chief executive leadership equips her to chair a Board focused on governance quality, children’s life chances, organisational assurance and effective delivery of the 2025–30 strategy.
