Pupils from Ormiston Meadows Academy have spread festive cheer to Lapwing Extra Care Retirement Facility by performing a selection of festive songs, and as part of their #iwill project, Kindness in the Community campaign.
The pupils were spread around outside the residential home in Orton Brimbles within their social bubbles, and performed a range of Christmas classics, including ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘Silent Night’.
The performance was part of their social action initiative ‘Ormiston Meadows Kindness in the Community Campaign’, an initiative that looks to foster stronger links between the academy and the wider local community. Before the March lockdown, Meadows were ready to launch their community #iwill project, but with the closure of schools, they had to postpone. Understanding they had to rework their project plan to keep all involved safe, they drew up new plans and ensured their campaign could go ahead. The academy was determined to continue this important work while still adhering to Covid guidelines.
(The £17,000 finding was used to support a variety of projects including this one.)
