Announcing the passing of Ormiston Academies Trust’s Chair of Trustees, Julius Weinberg
We are deeply saddened by the unexpected death of Julius Weinberg, Chair of Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), who passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday 16th September 2026.
We are enormously fortunate to have known and worked with Julius, and we are profoundly grateful for everything he gave to Ormiston. From his wisdom and warmth to his leadership of OAT - Julius was always willing to listen and debate, and deeply committed to the schools, staff and young people who OAT serves.
Julius began his role as Chair in 2022, bringing a lifetime of public service experience to OAT, its 45 schools, 5,000 staff and over 30,000 pupils. Above all, he believed passionately in the potential of every young person and was dedicated to our mission of helping them to thrive.
For those of us at Ormiston Trust who had the privilege of working with Julius, his good humour and generosity will be greatly missed. We are immensely grateful for his service to Ormiston and for the difference he made.
