The Ormiston Trust is a grant giving trust that primarily supports schools and organisations that provide direct assistance to children, young people, and families across England. As a match funder awarding grants on the behalf of the #iwill Fund, the Ormiston Trust is offering open grants of up to £5,000 over a 9 to 12-month period to support the embedding of sustainable youth social action at scale in schools.
The #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to £54 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high quality social action opportunities.
The Ormiston Trust believes in a future where all children and young people can lead fulfilling lives. The Trust is driven by the idea that young people can and should be at the centre of meaningful change and at the heart of social impact within their communities at large.
The Ormiston Trust’s #WeWill Social Action Grants fund looks to support this mission by funding projects which will have a meaningful social impact on an individual, school, local, national, and/or international level, are co-produced young people, and allow development for key skills.
In order to be eligible for #WeWill Social Action funding, your organisation must be a primary or secondary school based in England. Successful applicants must commit to using our social action toolkit filled with resources, curriculum guides, and templates within the span of the programme.
The #WeWill social action grants programme for schools is split into two-parts. In the first stage of the programme, successful grantees will be required to embed youth social action in their curriculum through the use and integration of our youth social action toolkit and various resources. The youth social action toolkit outlines every step needed for schools and students to meaningfully engage with youth social action – both within and outside the classroom – and is centered around critical skill development (including communication, oracy, problem solving, among others). Supplemental resources for lesson planning, student reflection, budget planning, and project development will also be provided.
Additional funding will then be considered in phase two for the development and implementation of a youth-driven social action project. Projects in phase two must be related to one of our four main funding areas: Environment and Climate Justice; Wellbeing and Mental Health; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; and Community-based Issues.
